Margaret MacLean is a veteran educator with over 30 years experience in seven countries. Margaret currently provides professional development support to teachers and school leaders around the globe.
Margaret has taught at all grade levels from Pre-K to grade six and served for over 15 years as a school administrator. In 1996 she was named Vermont Principal of the Year. Margaret is a member of the School Reform Initiative. Begun in 1995 at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University, the program is focused on developing collaborative school cultures, encouraging reflective practice, and rethinking leadership—all in support of increased student achievement. The Critical Friends Group model is the basis of the work.

Margaret’s work takes her to school districts throughout the U.S. to provide initial training seminars and follow up school coaching. She has experience as an educator internationally and has previously presented at EARCOS, AISA and ECIS conferences. MacLean has also worked directly with a number of international schools to develop schoolwide systems for effective professional collaboration, including: Shanghai American School; the American School in Japan; Seoul Foreign School; the American International School of Mozambique; FMV Ayazaga Isik Lisesi, Istanbul; St Paul’s British School, San Paulo; andthe International School of Tanganyika.
In addition to her work internationally Margaret works for the Rural School and Community Trust, a U.S. based national advocacy organization for small rural schools which, supports schools and communities working to improve education.
