JOURNAL CHECKLIST

Journals do not have to be neat. They are where you record, who on your team did what.

Plans for data collection, site visits, photos taken, interviews, library research, the exhibit, the presentation and the written report are to be included. Please include records of expenses with receipts stapled to pages. You may include reflections, assessments, analyses, raw data, phone numbers, transcriptions, drawings, lists of maps, reminders, and notes to each other. Journals are on-going records of your project. They will be reviewed and returned by the instructor every two weeks.

Journals will begin with an assessment of prior knowledge about your project topic: what do you already about your topic? And what do you want to find out?

• An up-to-date and accurate account of each
individual’s weekly project participation

• Plans and schedules for up-coming data collection events

• Summaries of research done

• Rough plans for the exhibit

• Financial records and receipts

• Personal reflections on the process so far

• Questions for interviews

Lists:
• of interviews needed

• of photos needed and taken

• of maps needed

• materials needed for the exhibit
