Spend an intensive and deeply rewarding week with educators from around the world, immersed in service-learning, sustainability, and place-based education.
The Institute deepens practice through interactive training designed to maximize learning, growth, and accomplishment. Participants learn to use CWI’s model for service-learning best practice, with both an instructional and ‘site level” focus. Fostering student voice is a core component of our work. The week includes ongoing opportunities for dialogue with experienced faculty practitioners and peers. About Our Location Summer EAST takes place at Shelburne Farms, a long time partner of CWI.Shelburne Farmsis an environmental education center and national historic landmark on the shores of Lake Champlain, with walking trails, a working farm, and Inn and restaurant. A Week of Accomplishment As an Institute participant you will develop a deepened practical approach to service-learning, while creating an integrated service-learning plan that meets your own unique curriculum, school, or program needs. Study Groups and Peer Support

The Institute begins promptly at 8:30am Monday, July 16th and ends, following an important culminating activity, promptly at 4:30pm on Friday, July 20th. Late arrivals and/or early departures are discouraged out of respect for fellow participants.Please schedule accordingly.
Institute Tuition and Fees
Currently discounts are still available for individuals and teams. [Regular tuition for CWI's Summer EAST is $1,289] Tuition includes all books and training materials, light breakfast, breaks and lunches. [see Early Registration Discount information here] Meals are catered by the Inn at Shelburne Farms. The tuition fee does NOT include lodging. Discounted lodging is available, please ask for CWI discount. Graduate Credit and Relicensure Professional certificates for 45 hours will be issued upon successful completion of Institute work. An optional 3 graduate credits are available for $552. more
Local Professional Development: CWI will also work with you on a local professional development sessions, or a site based version of our national Institutes. Local institutes must be scheduled at least three months in advance and can be customized to suit individual site needs. email CWI
