We emphasize the use of service-learning best practices including interactive trainings and opportunities for dialogue with experienced practitioners. Structured planning and reflection time is provided for individual and group work to support participant needs.
Experienced practitioners share curriculum exemplars, resources and teaching tools. Curriculum exemplars drawn from the field are used to illustrate the ways in which service-learning can become an integrated feature of curriculum with clearly articulated connections to state standards.
Participants develop an integrated service-learning curriculum and/or site plan to meet their own educational goals. Implementation support is available via email or telephone.
Local Institutes: Community Works Institute will also work with you on a local professional development sessions, or a site based version of our national Institute. Local institutes must be scheduled at least six months in advance and can be customized to suit individual site needs.
